I have a client that does not like the way ACT 6.0 handles duplicates. He receives leads from that he manually enters and also receives a contact database daily. If he has already manually entered a contact when he imports the database ACT will create two contacts. He would like it to notify him when there is a duplicate being imported. Is there a setting within ACT 6.0 that handles this?

Log into ACT as a user with Administrative rights.
Pull Down the Edit menu, select Define Fields.
Then on the Advanced Tab, set up the fields (up to 3) that will define duplicates for this database.
From then on your client should get warning messages when he enters a contact that matches the duplicate criteria.
