Copy custom commands & toolbars to another PC

Using Act 2000 on Windows 7

I've setup several custom buttons and some toolbars.  Where do those get saved?  They seem to be profile specific.  I'd like to copy them to other PCs with Act 2000.

Any help would be great.

Re: Copy custom commands & toolbars to another PC

Found it !

Export/import these 3 keys....

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec\ACT!\TBarMenuConfig\ACT!\CustomCommands

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-760804570-3751304640-1698983407-1221\Software\Symantec\ACT!\TBarMenuConfig\ACT!\CustomCommands

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-760804570-3751304640-1698983407-1221\Software\Symantec\ACT!\TBarMenuConfig\ACT!\ActToolBars-Bar11

The last one might be dependent on where you place your customer command buttons.

Thanks for the clues.

If I remember correct, and this is an old memory, that information is stored in the Windows registry but I don't remember the specific location.

This kb tells how to do it from Act! 2005 and newer http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18313/

I don't know where or how you'd do it for Act! 2000.

Searched the registry for one of the commands I setup for a custom command button.  Didn't find anything.

You likely wouldn't find it with a search like that. I do remember that the ACT! keys were under the main symantic key.

Bit late replying!
Most of the customisation can be moved to another PC by actdiag > backup Act! registry
copy the ActReg file the other PC and double click > ok
Very cool and time saving feature.

Hi Nigelot,

The backup Act Registry puts out a .reg file.  Those are typically a text file you can read with Notepad.  Not in this case though.  Is there a way to edit the output of backup Act Registry?

Not quite sure what you mean but....
Act v6 customisation is amazing, Total Respect and appreciation to the hard work of the Act6 team, back in 2003/2004. and previous Act! (except v3 Nightmare!..lost the will to live!)
The layout ie short cuts and buttons can be moved to another PC by saving the ActReg and double click on 'PC two'.
I've found the keyboard ie ctrl arrow left - ie lookup Company shortcut isn't saved in Actreg, not sure why this is.
Most other customisation as per your OP is saved.
Can I confirm you have tried the actdiag save ActReg is by far the best and only way to move your customisation to another PC? and save a lot of time.

Re: Copy custom commands & toolbars to another PC

No the ACT! 6 registry backup file can't be edited. Also if you have Norton anti-virus you may not be able to do the restore of the backup file. The ACT! registry entries are mostly located in a sub-key to the Symantic key and Norton typically locks the Symantic key.
