Cannot Open ACT Database

Using Act 6 with ACT4Advisors on a Dell Laptop running XP Home.  Before today everything was working fine then today the database would not open saying "The database you are trying to open ins not an ACT! database.  To use this database in ACT you need to import the data by following the onscreen instructions in the import wizard."  I put the datafiles from this machine back onto an older machine (same software) and the database opened correctly.  Next I put some old data from the old machine onto the new machine and got the same error message.


The user says that there were no changes to the system.


It would seem to be a permission issue.


Any insight?
