Act 6.03 Slow on Workstations

Act 6.03 is very slow on workstations, fast on server pc, when trying to attach an email to a contact. It is extremely slow to bring up the "Attach E-mail to Contact(s)" box. Then is very slow when typing into the "Type in/choose name" area. When performed on serve pc, very fast.

Similarly, very fast on server pc when bringing up Contact List, F8, but very slow on workstations when email address is one of the fields in the contact list. OK on workstations when email address is not in contact list.

I have run actdiag, compacted database, rebuilt all indexes, turned off Opportunistic Locking on all pc's. No improvement.

Using Act 6.03. Outlook 2000, Win XP Pro SP3,

Act files are on server pc in Shared Documents folder mapped as N:\Act, subfolders are Database, Document, Email, Layout, Macro, Netlinks, Query, Report, Spell, Sync.

PC's: Win XP Pro SP3, 2GB RAM, Intel Core2 Duo 2.53GHz.

Greatly appreciate any help.

Re: Act 6.03 Slow on Workstations

The problem is loading the 12K contacts into the box.... this is a lot of data to send.

ACT! 2009 would be much faster for this as the client/server architecture means most of the data work happens on the server.

The only options with 6.0 would be more RAM (server and workstations) for better caching and/or a faster lan
