w3wp.exe using 99% CPU and 1gb of RAM

Well, had another issue on Day 6... will call Swiftpage, once again, tomorrow to try and get this resolved. It's been 8 hours since I had an issue this morning and the CPU usage is already up near 60%.

I had the same trouble on v21.1.187 update 3 with webapi_v1.0.449.0. It was the web api application pool using all cpu. I had to kill the w3wp process remotely so I could get into my server as it was slowed to a crawl. I went into the advanced settings of the web api application pool and set a cpu limit of 25% with a kill order after 5 minutes. I haven't noticed any trouble with it since then. That's not to say it doesn't happen, I just don't know now. I suppose there must be a log of kill actions somewhere but no clue. See attached photo for reference.

a good tip with the cpu limit parameter.

Before you set this parameter, you'll have to verify your version of IIS:

Was there any definite resolution to this issue with w3wp.exe spiking in v21? Client is experiencing this from time to time. They are considering upgrading to v22 but concerned this will still be an issue with IIS and/or web api. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have that intermittently ... Reboot and it doesn't happen again for a while.
Maybe I'll research it more closely if I have spare time when it happens next

I've never had to worry about it since implementing the CPULIMIT workaround. I haven't found any log to tell me how often it happens.
