view administrator

we cannot figure out who or if there is an administrator in one of our databases.  we've tried all users that we know of.  is there a way to view it when you are not an administrator and possibly change it?  we use Act 2010 corporate.

Depending on your level of access, you can go to tools manage users and see here.

Re: view administrator

Find a contact record where you are the Record Manager (but not your own record) and Click the drop down list for the Record Manager - you'll see a list of all users by their contact name, not necessarily their user name.  Maybe from that list you can guess who might have Administrator rights.

Re: view administrator

I should mention that a user's contact name isn't necessarily their user name (login name). So from seeing their Contact Name, you'll have to guess at their user name and their password, if they set a password.

Hello kbrooks,

ACT! Support has an internal utility that can uncover the Admin user and reset the password. Please see your Private Messages in this forum for more information.

Re: view administrator

Hello ghollister,

I have the same problem as kbrooks in the below message.  We cannot determine who is the administrator of our database.  You reference an internal utility that can identify our administrator and reset the password.  How do I go about accessing this utility to do this?

Thank you,
Jason

Hello Jason,
Welcome to the Sage ACT! User Community. Are you able to log in to your database? If so, do a lookup (Lookup > Other Fields), choose the Is User field, value=True. See if you can log into each of those users. Admin user will be able to access the "Manage Users" option under the Tools menu. If this does not help resolve, you would need to call ACT! Support to use the internal password reset tool. More information is here:
