I used Premium for Workgroups 2006, XP Professional - single user.
I dont want Act to check for updates -- therefore, I have tried unchecking or setting the months to 100 - in the "Automatic check for updates every ..." The reason I dont want to check for updates is that it resets all the settings I customized - e.g., email including email signature, calendar options etc.
HOWEVER, Act is wasting my time by checking for updates even though I have unchecked the box or set the time to months=100. And each time, I have to go in and customize my settings.
This is wasting my time!!!!
Any suggestions will be helpful.

Durkin has created some great addons for Act. One of them is the FREE no-updater-screen addon.
I think this is exactly what you are looking for.
