"Act! has stopped working" only for user profiles, not admin profile

Hello,

 

One of our computer yesterday morning had Act! 17 Premium version crashing every single time. I had to re install it. This morning it does it again. However I noticed that I can run Act from the Admin profile of the computer perfectly.

The computer is running Windows 7. It did not have any updates done over night.

 

Any clue? I don't want to have to re install Act! every morning.

Question...  if from the user profile you start Act! as administrator...  The same thing happens...?

I forgot to mention that I had tried that to and it stops working too.

Hi Greg,

At what point exactly does it crash? Do you see any error messages?

I would suggest trying again with UAC disabled on the machine. Here's a Knowledgebase article with info on how to do this: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25665

Additionally, this may be being caused by some anti-virus software you have installed. I would suggest adding Act as an exception to any anti-virus installed: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25125

This normally caused by a corrupt ACT preferences for the user.

Thank you Gary for the suggestions. It just crashes simply saying Act has stopped working and nothing much. Your 2 suggestions did not solved the problem.
