we successfully installed act 8 professional onto our server running xp professional,
set up the sync sets, and the default port 65100, since then some of our users, cant access the server, or see any of the network machines, i have now removed the sync set, and hey presto all is fine again.
therefore the default port i suspect is to blame, any ideas as to what to change this to, and the implications of doing tha

turn off windows firewall? defender? Adware or spyware will stop SQL sometimes but you say noone can access the server so you have a permission problem maybe?
you don't give any error messages to there's not enough info to help more.
