not able to add contacts

act premium 2012 sp1

database on server , issue on local workstation.

workstation is windows 7 x64 

 

when adding a contact into act, the pop up windows doesn't show up. instead nothing happens, act is then "locked" up as when you click on it the computer dings. 

 

I have removed act from add remove programs, rebooted, reinstalled and it is still doing same.

 

act integration to outlook is installed be default, but not setup. trying to do everything in act.

there is a third party addon in act so that act 2012 can see office 2010 and office 2013. 

 

 

not seeing anything in windows event log during time frames. 100 percent repeatable. 

solution so far is to task manager / close act, and not add a contact.  This is specifically at the point where the popup to choose the company would show up.

This was resovled by the Act Database Administrator. 
Some how permissions were not what they needed to be. 

I don't know the specific permission changes, or why they changed in the first place. 

but now she is able to add contacts again, and she gets the popup to choose what company to save to.

Does the same happen if you try and create a new contact in the demo database on the server?

I was able to get the pop up on the local act demo database. 

the demo database on the server isn't shared out for me to test on.

I guess i could share it out, but I have a feeling that will cause a bunch of issues with end users.
