The main benefit is that you get an extra Sage Accounts tab in ACT! which displays a summary of that contact's account status which is pulled from Sage accounts. You can therefore see things like current credit status, month to date sales figure, year to date sales figure etc. You also get some additional buttons that allow you to create a new quotation in Sage Accounts, or create a new invoice in Sage Accounts. You can also create a new account in Sage from an ACT! contact, so that if you turn a an ACT! prospect into a customer you create a new Sage account and the name and address get copied over, so it saves having to type them out again.
It does pretty much what it says on the tin and of course it's a free link. However, beyond that it's a bit limited. You can't do lookups from ACT! into Sage Accounts data for example and you can't see details of actual sales in ACT! There's also no link between ACT! opportunities and Sage Accounts.
