intermittent synch problem getting worse premium for work groups 2007 (9) ex edition version 9.0.1.162

 

Our database is on a shared computer which is internally networked to 7 in house users. In house users rarely have a synching issue, when they do they cancel and retry and it works.

 

5 road salesman are supposed to synch everyday from home. Road salesman externally synchronize thru a VPN. Although they have all successfully synched it works less than 50% of the time. Sometimes it takes 10 attempts to work. The VPN appears to be working properly and their attempts show in log. If they physically come in like inhouse users it usually goes without a glitch.

 

Home DSL users have more difficulty as do wireless home network users.

The 2 road salesman who it works best for use hardwired cable modems.

all computers run XP pro.

 

We believe poor internet connections are contributing factor.Have watched networking speed drop to Zero in task manager mid synch (when it does the synch is always unsuccessful) sometimes showing unsucessfull synch imediately sometimes just hanging up .   The more days they go without synching the harder it is.

 

 

 After 2 years this is driving us crazy.

Any ideas?

If they are attempting to sync a large amount of data and are using a slower connection, then this could cause timeout errors. Please see KB Article 23416 for instructions to increase the sync timeout values.
