how to rename a database

using APFW 2010, all users are using web interface (no .pad file desktop clients)

Currently, at the login screen, the "Log On To:" database droppdown has the name "test" in there from when we were testing the web version.

I'd like to change it to so it reads something else.

What are the steps to rename a database so I don't mess up the whole thing?

Re: how to rename a database

Hello,

Here is the safest way to do this:

- Ensure all users are logged out of the database (web and network)

- On the server, open the "test" database, then go to File > Save Copy As

- Give the database the name you would like it to be and save it to the same directory as the original database

- Choose the "Create a copy of this database option" and ensure that "Share this database with other users" is checked. Click OK.

- When the copy is complete, open it for verification.

- Go to Tools > Website Adminstration and go to Add/Remove Database tab. Remove the test database and add the copy you created. Do a reset of IIS on this server.

- Web users should now see the new copy you made on the login screen

Notes:

* Do not use the above process if you have remote database users who sync with the main database.

* If you have users who access the database through the network (not the web) and they have saved a copy of the database .PAD file to their machine, they will need to delete that copy and save a copy of the new .PAD file for the newly names database
