backing up v17 and restoring to new v17 license

Any preliminary tasks needed before backing up v17 and restoring to new v17 license?  If so I want to avoid potential problems before I make the attempt. I am asuming at a minimum that I need to make the same field design changes that I made in the original installation.  Thanks for any input, Bill

Thank you for submitting your post. The database is not tied to the serial number and will not have issues restoring the database to a computer that has a new serial number. All of the preferences and layouts will carry over to the new install amd serial number of Act!.
