act2011/maximizer10.5. search client

maximizer includes a standalone search client which allows you to search without launching the full application.

is there anything like that in act2011

thanks inadvance

ACT! users work from their database throughout the day.  Since it is seldom closed there is no need for an external search tool.

That said, it would be possible to access the database through SQL.  In fact, Outlook does this all the time as it provides address book access to the ACT! database even when ACT! is closed.   This way, emails sent to and received from ACT! contacts still update/attach to the database even if ACT! is not open.

If you are interested in doing an external search of ACT!, please suggest some applications/uses of this that would explain and justify the feature.  For example, once a contact was searched and found, what would be done with that info?

Re: act2011/maximizer10.5. search client

thank you kindly 4 your reply

in my case searching a db in excess of 10,000 records for key information such as

a phone number or even if the name record exists is extremely fast using mssql 2k8 std versions

since mssql is such a memory hog as well as maximizer I rather not open the full app if i dont have to ...

reviewing the memory/process usage of act2011premium its right up there with it

we also only use outlook for email

so running the client at windows start up maintains low system resources as well as a way of instant access of those key

information

upon windows startup we run the alarm and maxfinder client

the reference you made to mssql access is interesting i will see if app/add-on is available
