Word 2007 Templates & Act! 2008 Premium

I see that the Act templates open in Word 2007 with "compatibility mode".  Everything works as it has in past versions while using compatibility mode.  I notice though, that if I convert the template to the new Word 2007 format, it breaks the connection between Act and Word.  ie, when you print the document created from the template, it no longer asks if you would like to create a history or attach the file.

My questions:

1) Am I missing something, or is there no way to take advantage of the new features in Word and still be able to link back with Act?
2) Is this functionality something that will be added in the future?

I think that might be the standard templates that come with ACT! as they need to work with all supported versions of Word.

Have you tried creating a new template?
