What is the best way to have remote users access a shared database

1 of my users works remotely and suffers from performance issues when connecting through a VPN tunnel.   Ideally he would have a copy of the database on his PC, then sync up his changes with the master databse nightly.  What is the best way to do this?  Should I create a remote databse for him or is there a better option?

You would likely be better served using your VPN connection as the "backbone" for your remote users' sync than using as a live connection.

You don't say whether you are using ACT! Pro or Premium.  Premium also offers access cia the web interface, but this requires installation and possible uninstalling and re-installing ACT!.

Setting up data sync is not that tough, likely a good way to go to keep it simple.
