What MS components to download, to enable Outlook Email integration with Act?

What MS components to download, to enable Outlook Email integration with Act?

Act! Premium (Web) Version: 21.0.295.0, Update 7

Windows 10, Microsoft Outlook for Office 365 MSO (16.0.11328.20156) 32-bit

I want to be able to select a subset of records in Act and email that subset using my email account which is used by Outlook.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Mark.

Hi Jan, thanks for that link, it looks promising.

At the moment I can't get the software from Act to install fully.

Will have a think and come back to it later.

Re: What MS components to download, to enable Outlook Email integration with Act?

Hi Jan and anyone else to whom this might be of interest.

I got help from Swiftpage and have now set up Act! as an address book in outlook. I also now have the ability to send emails direct from Act! and their details are recorded in history. I would have preferred them to be listed in notes but no matter.

What I wanted was to be able to send emails to selected records, perhaps 1,800 records at a time quarterly. I talked this over with Swiftpage tech support and they felt this was not a good idea as 1) Act! isn't really set up for this and 2) my email account might be flagged for spam which could be a pain.

So I am still looking for a bulk email sender and will be looking at constant contact, mailchimp and icontact to see what they offer. At the moment I think constant contact is looking like the best bet for my specific needs.

One final point. When I was trying to set up mail etc I found lots of things didn't work the way they were explained, Then I noticed the notes said in ie so I began again in MS IE and the steps worked and I was able to resolve things. So if you are having problems in chrome or edge or something, try MSIE ..

Not mentioned in the KB article is that Outlook loves to disable the integration add-on.

Make sure you go into Outlook and set this add-on to always enable.

Mark

There are a number of add-on products that facilitate bulk emailing from Act! beyond the Swiftpage offerings.

To do bulk mailings through Outlook try https://www.keystroke.ca/en/brand/Product/mailmanager4act.html  (allows you to send bulk email in small batches amongst many other things).

If you want to go down the Mailchimp route checkout https://www.exponenciel.com/actaddons/actaddon.aspx?ID=159

For Contact Contact, Egen Consulting (http://www.egenconsulting.com) will, I believe, shortly be introducing an add-on
