We use Sage ACT! Premium 2012 Version 126.96.36.199 with 25 users. Act is shared on a Server running Windows Server 2008. We use Act as our database and for scheduling. We do not track histories or add attachments and we only use the email field to open new emails that are sent via Outlook.
Assistants have to enter calendar items for the attorneys they work for by keepint the schedule with as the firm attorney and then they also change the schedule for to match the person they are scheduling for. We do not need or want Act to have the invitations message on anyone's screen. We grant calendar access for assistants to schedule for the person they work for.
Assistants are having more and more issues switching from the calendar view to lookup a contact. They use keyboard shortcuts to lookup by last name, but they often need to cancel out of the middle of scheduling a meeting in the calendar in order to lookup a phone number.
Is there any way to open 2 copies of Act at the same time, so they can lookup phone numbers on one copy and schedule meetings on another? We use 2 monitors and the assistants can do things like this in other programs.
Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!~

A 25 user database under heavy use needs to be well maintained to provide optimum speed of operation which in this case is about optimising view changes. The activities table in Act! is complex and Act! will benefit a great deal if old activities are purged from the database using the maintenance tools provided. As well there are add-on products that facilitate this.
Other considerations are:
1. Under the Tools menu, Preferences and in the Startup tab you can have each view dispaly in its own window. Check the option
'Open each view in its own Window'.
2. Since you have Act! Premium you could install Act! Premium for Web and have users have Act! open in a browser for the second
appearance of Act! [ Act! won't allow two desktop sessions of Act! as a Windows application to run simultaneously]

The software is part of the Act! Premium package you purchased.
I suggest you engage a local Act! consultant to assist you with it, particularly if you are running Act! on a server that is running other web services that uses IIS. The version of Act! you run needs some care with installing Act! Premium for Web.
