V18 web Failed to fetch the global toolbar order. Bad request - error

You've gotta be kidding me.  Another problem. This is killing me.

Now suddenly out of the blue any time I log into any of my database via the web I get these two errors.  Doesn't matter which user I log in with.  Only appears to happen on my client computer.

failed to acquire the display search arena

and
Failed to fetch the global toolbar order.  Bad request - error

Thanks for any help

Darrell

Never mind It was a problem with a virus software blocking some of the functions

Hi Darrell, thanks for your post. I have a similar issue to resolve and was wondering if you could detail the anti-virus software you are using that blocked the Act! for Web functionality and what you changed within it's settings to avoid it interfering with Act! for Web?

Hi Matthew,

If it helps, here are some details of the exceptions that should be added to any anti virus software running on the server: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25125

Thanks Gary. I'm assuming that the majority of these firewall rules apply only to the server hosting the APFW site. Which ones are you suggesting apply to specific anti-virus on the client side? This particular user is one of our Cloud users that we host on our Australian Web servers locally. So since no other users are having this issue, I would assume we need to focus on the clients end...

Hi Matthew,

Ahh, you're right in thinking that article is only relevant for host machines, and not web clients. For the clients, we have the following article which details recommended browser settings: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38231

In regards to firewall exceptions, The Act! web interface uses the standard internet ports 80 and 443.
