Using Quote form in Opportunities Tab

Has anyone found a work around for the limitations to the quote form that is hard coded into the new opportunity dialog box? I cannot edit the form and it has some limitations like only 25 lines available, it cannot do a 2 page quote.  Plus as I said you can't edit the form.  Does anyone know of a work around to this?

Re: Using Quote form in Opportunities Tab

The standard Quote form is called Quote.adt and is located in the templates folder of you database files.  You can get to it by going to Write/Edit Template. When you click the Quote button, it is coded to open the template specifically called "Quote.adt", so if you change the name of them template it will not open with Quote button.  You can open a custom Quote template from Write/Other Document (from template).  I would advise saving a copy of the default Quote template before making any edits to it.

The 25-item limit is part of ACT's programming, so unfortunately it cannot be overidden....even by editing the Quote form.

Hi Greg,

Does this apply to act2010 as well?

so I can never add a new column? such as the type field that is included in products list.

Yes, it is. The standard quote form in ACT! is not very flexible. However, there are some add-on products that give you more options with the quotes in ACT!, such as QuoteWerks or Excel Quote-Invoice Maker for ACT! 2010. You can find these on the partner add-on site at http://sagepss.com.

Thanks, Greig

I do use Quotewerks, I can't imagine anyone really using the act quotation feature for a real business.

I however was trying to use the Act quotation feature to do something else for us

Thanks for the info

There's loads of information on our website about the features in QuoteWerks quoting add-on for ACT! (and SalesLogix, plus many of the Sage ERP and accounting packages). If you'd like a demo, please get in touch.
