Upgrade from V16 Pro

[ Edited ]

I have 2 licenses of V16 Pro and considering upgrading to 3 licenses of V17 Premium. Is there any upgrade discount or I have to buy the whole new license?

Is there an option to have the DB hosted in the cloud or web without using a 3rd party hosting service? Is it possible to host it on my own server?

The features I utilize the most in v16 Pro are contact lists, groups, and advanced queires to create highly segemented lists. I then create a mail template and do a mail merge. Are all these functions available in the web and mobile interfaces too?

Can I set permissions to control access for each user to which contacts/groups he can view?

I currently use constant contact for email marketing but considering switching to mailchimp. is there any integration with Act? Is Act emarketing very robust? It seems fairly new and unproven.

All 3 users utilize Outlook for email and synchronizing Act with Outlook contacts. Does it sync the same way if you have the same user making changes on desktop, mobile, and web interfaces?

Also, is it possible to demo with my current DB to test functionality on each platform?

Sorry for all the quesiotns. This is still very new and a big change. I just am having a hard time visualizing how everything will sync and work fluidly

Bump

Also, can I host the DB on my own server without paying the monthly fee for each user?

I have 2 licenses of V16 Pro and considering upgrading to 3 licenses of V17 Premium. Is there any upgrade discount or I have to buy the whole new license?  You can regularly upgrade the current two licenses with special price and buy a new license.

Is there an option to have the DB hosted in the cloud or web without using a 3rd party hosting service? Is it possible to host it on my own server? that's right - with ACT! Premium you can have your own web server - for example I have a server with Windows server 2008 standard - 4 GB of Memory - good processor - and additionally you need easy modification in the Internet router

The features I utilize the most in v16 Pro are contact lists, groups, and advanced queires to create highly segemented lists. I then create a mail template and do a mail merge. Are all these functions available in the web and mobile interfaces too?  In my case for example ... With ACT! Premium I can have some remote databases to synchronize via the Internet, so I get a better integration between ACT! Windows and Office Outtlok 2007 or 2010

Can I set permissions to control access for each user to which contacts/groups he can view? Sure ... you can manage in some ways ... For teams ... after defining the team, contacts are not created as public but as limited access ... Another way is with the SYNCSET of remote databases ... in this case remote users with remote database can only view and work with contacts that were defined in the SYNCSET by any criteria - you can learn this in training and consulting

mailchimp...  ACT! can not be integrated with MailChimp, but you can create a list of your contacts in Excel and then import - ACT! E-Marketing it's very good  and the best  option for ACT! e-marketing

All 3 users utilize Outlook for email and synchronizing Act with Outlook contacts. Does it sync the same way if you have the same user making changes on desktop, mobile, and web interfaces?  I suggest you use one-way synchronization to avoid problems with duplicate contacts or loss of information - in my case for example ... my users have remote database with Internet Synchronization ... then they do not synchronize with Outlook because the calendar and contact information are in ACT! remote database

Also, can I host the DB on my own server without paying the monthly fee for each user?  that's right - with ACT! Premium you can have your own web server - for example I have a server with Windows server 2008 standard - 4 GB of Memory - good processor - and additionally you need easy modification in the Internet router

We recommend periodically backup your ACT! database

Re: Upgrade from V16 Pro

thanks a lot. I prefer to host myself but we would have to put it on our ISP's server as it is not local. If I understand correctly, ACT and the DB have to be installd on the server and then the clients all acess it. Does the Admin have to access it dirctly on the sevrer can Admin also be remote. In other words, once I do the intial install on the server, is there ay other need for user to access ACT directly on the sevrer or can it all be done by remote Admin?
