Upgrade ACT

Hi we are currently in the decision process regarding upgrading our ACT from 2009 to 2014.

In order to test whether the upgrade will run smoothly I have set up a virtual server where I have installed APFW 2014 (trial version)

Is it possible to backup our current database and open it in the 2014 version to see whether this will work?

In the 2014 version it asks for a .pad file but when i back up I get a different file. Any inputs on how to carry this test out?

Best regards,

Andreas.

Re: Upgrade ACT

Copy your backup file (ZIP) to the VM and Restore As (new name). You will then be able to open the database and upgrade it. Be sure to log in as an admin.

Re: Upgrade ACT

Hmm it won't work.

Would it be possible to (and should I do?) share my local 2009 remote server and open and upgrade in 2014?

It says that I have to make it a shared database, but I can figure out if this could lead to some fatal consequences for my database?

Best regards,

Andreas.
