Unexpected results on File Export

I have an Act 2005 Premium for Workgroups databse that is designed using company and contact records.  When we do a lookup by example of the company records and then do an export of contatct records for that lookup we get all contact records not the susbet of the lookup.

Is it possible to do what I am trying and if so how?

Thanks

Re: Unexpected results on File Export

I think the Lookup just looks up the company records. It's doesn't make a lookup of the associated contact records. I can't think of a way to do this.

Create the Lookup on the Company field of the Contact records and then export the Current Lookup

Re: Unexpected results on File Export

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is that the lookup on company was on two fields that don't exist in contact ( Account Executive ad Category)

I guess I could export the company lookup and the entire conatct lista nd do a lookup in excel but that certainlymakes Act less useful

Re: Unexpected results on File Export

Create the fields in the Contact records and make them linked to the Company fields... then you'll be able to do the search on the contacts.

BTW: I'd also look at upgrading from 2005 to 2008... much faster and more stable.
