UI - External component has thrown an exception

Hello all!


I have a user who is having an odd issue when he tried to launch Sage ACT! Premium 2011. The error is...


"Category: UI


External compononent has thrown an exception


System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException: External component has thrown an exception. at Act.Application.Interop.ActApplicationInterop..ctor() at Act.Application.Act.Main(String[] args)"


This happens before he can even choose a database to log into. I'm assuming this is a local error. I've looked through the forums and the kb but have been unsuccessful at finding a resolution. Does this error just require a reinstall of the software or is there something else I need to look at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello n00tch,
Welcome to the Sage ACT! Community. If it's only happening with one user and it was working for that user before, the best place to start would be an uninstall/reinstall of ACT!.
