The variable name already exists

ACT! 2005 preminum:   When we go to write a custom document in ACT for one of our documents we get the following error: "The variable name already exists".  There is just one of these documents that does this.  All the documents uses Word .adt file.  Everyone in our company uses the same template to create their document.

Anyone run into this or knows a fix?

It sounds like the template may be damaged, perhaps one of the field markers is damaged. Since the error is not specific it might be best to recreate the document in a new template.  You can try copying and pasting the content into a new template first.  If that fails then it will have to be recreated manually.

Re: The variable name already exists

I had a client where this was happening.  The templates were legal documents, some as long as 50 pages.  So manually recreating didn't seem like a very good option.  What I found was that the client had selected certain mail-merge fields and had made the font for those ALL CAPS.  Removing that property on the mail-merge fields allowed the template to function normally.  Any idea why this happens or if it can be fixed in order to allow that?
