The attachment cannot be accessed. The file may have been modified outside ACT

We are getting the above error when trying to attach documents to contacts and/or companies within ACT.  ACT is on a server with software accessing the DB over the network.  The Attachments file is marked as Read Only and will not allow us to change it, with Admin Rights applied, it defaults back to Read Only.  Everyone has access to the file with full control.  Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do to fix this?

Thanks

Re: The attachment cannot be accessed. The file may have been modified outside ACT

It sounds like the permissions on the server are not allowing users to access the file structure correctly.

You may need to change the permissions at the folder level - (the whole attachments folder) - make sure that this is set to full control for everyone.

You could try un-sharing and then re-sharing from the server (in Act! go to Tool > Database Maintenance > Untick, then Retick Share Database) - you'll need to be logged in as an admin to do this. This should recreate the permissions on the relevant folders.

Hope this helps!
