TRANSFER DATABASE PROBLEM

Good Morning, I am a new guy in this forum.

I have post because I have a problem with my ACT 2005 Workgroups. I have one PC server that has generated 4 remote database.

This server is very old and I have thought that is better buy another PC and transfer so all data from the old PC to this.

I have tried to make export database and import in the new PC. But....

In the new PC I don't found into the menu history every result with Attachement (I am able to find "Letter Sent" "Opportunity lost" "E-mail sent"...and so on).

Besides, in a casual mode, in many contact, I lose the city, the state and mobile phone.

Is there someone that can explain me what's happen?

Thanks and Best Regards for every reply.

Roberto

Rather than importing the old database into a new one, go back to your original database and create an ACT backup (File > Backup > Database). Transfer this zip file to your new server. Now open ACT and File > Restore Database...go find the Zip file you just copied accross.

Re: TRANSFER DATABASE PROBLEM

Another way is to use ACTDIAG to "detach" the database from the server, delete the PAD file, and then manually copy the supplemental folders to the new server. Once moved there, use ACT on that new server to open the ADF file, and allow the program to verify the database.

Once that is completed, go to each of the stations with an RDB file and modify the connection info accordingly.

Re: TRANSFER DATABASE PROBLEM

Thank you very much!

Now all work good!

In the christmas Holidays I have transfered all data from the old PC to the NEW.

It's all perfect.

Best Regards and good 2009!
