Synchronizing ACT 2012 remote database on Windows 8

I have installed ACT 2012 on a Windows 8 laptop and it works fine EXCEPT I use a remote database and I can't get it to sync.  I get this error message:

 

Synchronisation has failed.  Synchronisation failed due to server log problems.  Contact your system administrator for assistance.  

 

Can anyone advise how to fix this issue?  

 

I'm running Windows 8 Pro, 64 bit and the ACT version is 2012, 14.1.108.0 Hot Fix 4.

Hi clive.hughes,

Most likely the problem is that 2012 isn't fully compatible with Windows 8. To try to work around this:

1) Turn off User Account Control on both computers (for instructions on this, see this MSDN blog post: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/hyperyash/archive/2012/07/18/disabling-user-account-control-in-windows-8.asp... ) and reboot.

2) Try running DB repair on both computers using these instructions: http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19642/kw/database%20repair
