Sync with iPad using companion link - duplicated all my contacts

My Act database and iPad have duplicated all my contacts (over 4,000). I would like to know how I can go into the data base and put an earlier date (prior to sync).

Thank you,

You could either restore a backup prior to it happening or maybe lookup records by Edit Date and delete them (backup first)

This sadly is a common issue with most of the sync products that go to the native address book and the reason I recommend Handheld Contact as a much better option.

Had the same thing happen here on serveral ocasions using companionlink.

Luckily we were syncing to gmail, which has a merge/clean up dupiclicates function.

The mobile device then gets the contact/appointment list from Gmail.

CompanionLink's web site actually advises not to sync with ACT!, Gmail and a phone ... Google's cleanup process sometimes merges unrelated contacts and loses data

Well, not like we'd be really losing any data over that, we're only doing a one way sync (act->gmail). Might take note to ocasionally clear all the contacts and apointments in gmail though, and have companionlink resync everything from scratch, if we do notice the problems you mentioned.
