The site has ACT! Premium EX 10.1.199 installed on a Win 2003 server and 3 notebooks running Vista Home Basic. The notebooks connect using Telecom 3G aircards, through a VPN connection, using Network sync. The publisher & remote DBs are small - about 250 contacts. Looking at the synclog, the sync starts ok & quickly gets to the "Server schema synchronised" point. It then sits there going nowhere until the session is cancelled or it produces an error: "Message: Synchronisation has failed. ACT! is unable to connect to the the sync server. Check to be incoming "accept incoming sync" is enabled ......".
The aircard connection might be a bit unreliable - it has a habit of dropping off when I connect to the notebook using Logmein. But one log shows it was connected for almost 9 hours before the sync was cancelled. In that time 78 records were added/updated.
The last good sync was when the remote was originally created, & it was sync'd via cable in the main office.
Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe it is a Vista or aircard issue?
If you are syn through a vpn , in the remote database goto tools synchronization panel, select manage connection information, replace the section host compuer name with ipaddress of master computer where the database is.
to get the ipadress goto start run type cmd
in this window type ipconfig which will give ipaddress
Thanks for the suggestions. In the meantime I had a another dig & found 2 attachments of 45MB created several days after the original remotes. So I have deleted those & will see how it goes. Thanks for your help.
