We recently purchased the premium product. We have setup a SQL2008 database (it's currently empty) and installed ACT! We are in the planning stages now.
I am considering using sync sets to limit the records that my remote sales reps can see. What would happen if, for instance, I had a remote user that only had access to records with a State set to "NY" but that remote user created a new contact that had a State of CA? Would the contact disappear?
Also, if I change the layout of contacts, add fields, add groups, etc from the main office, will my remote users get those changes when they sync?

If a user creates a record they stay with their synch set regardless of the rules.
If you update fields, layouts on the main system they are synchronised out to remote users
