I just have a quick question, I understand that the Publisher (main) ACT does not have to be open for scheduled syncs to take place, but does the Subscriber (remote) ACT need to be open for it to work? The reason I ask is that I will have a Main ACT Server (In San Diego) sync with a Remote ACT server (In Los Angeles) and it would be nice if the sync can happen in the background without either ACT having to be open.
Thanks,
Eric

I works if you set up the ACT Scheduler on the Remote to Sync. I do it from CA to CTevery hour.

You're probably using Application Sync, which requires ACT! to be open, and "Accept Incoming Syncs" to be checked off.
In order to synchronize with remote databases without having ACT! open, you need the Network Sync Service installed. Here's a link to the KB article for this:

Hi Len,
Thank you for the response, but unforuntely that is not the problem. My Publisher system has ACT Network Sync Service installed and running on it with the local database selected (connection to remote system is over Hamachi VPN; I already followed the directions here: http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23333). Under Synchronize Database, Accept Incoming Syncs is not selected. If I try to select this I get an error.
On the remote system, ACT Network Sync service is not installed, but under Sychrnoize Database - Sychronize Panel - Set Sync Schedule, I have this set to run every hour. If ACT is open on this system, then it will sync every hour. If I close act, it no longer tries to do anything. No pop up message, no nothing. I was under the assumption that ACT could be closed on the remote system and the sync schedule would connect with the Publisher system every hour but it doesn't look like that happens.
Am I missing a step?
Thanks!

Actually, nevermind, it looks like my act scheduler wasn't running...once I started that back up, it all works fine now.

Gotcha - I thought you meant it only synchronized when ACT! was open on the server.
ACT! is a little weird that way, the scheduler is the best option to schedule syncs since it runs regardless of ACT! being open or not, and does not interupt the user at all.
Glad it's working!
