Still cannot Backup ACT2013 Database Files since ref. July 03/2012 message.

Hi,

I still cannot backup my databases at all. Please refer to my messages and your replies which stopped in Aug. I was not able to backup from ACT 2011 and it is no different now in ACT2013. This is very risky as I have no way to assure if I have anything really bad happen that I can go back to and start from last backup.

Secondly -- I cannot understand when I send an e-mail using Outlook that the attachment does not get added to the customer record. I was certain it did in th epast but please correct me if I am wrong. The message from the body of the e-mail goes to history but the attachment does not.

Please check and let me know but mostly concerned about not able to backup.

Thanks,

Glen

Had a quick look at one of your threads...

Have you tried this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13740

Note: After detaching the database in ACTDIAG, you move the ADF and ALF (not the Pad) and the DatabaseFiles folder to a new folder. I recommend c:\ACTData ... having databases under Users or Docs and Settings sometimes has permissions issues

Also, from something I read in the thread... DO NOT use the Outlook sync to then sync to a mobile phone. It will nearly always cause issues. I recommend looking at Handheld Contact (www.HandheldContact.com) if you want reliable phone sync

Mike,

Thank you so much, this article was never mentioned before and it worked great. I now can do a Back up.

Thank You.

P.S. -- any idea about my E-Mails not posting to contacts name when I receieve an e-mail for a contact record or do I have to do something manually each time if I want to save it. I use Outlook 2007 as my e-mail send and receive.

Thanks,

Glen

I have had nothing but problems getting emails to attach.  This has been on going since I installed 2012.  No one seem to have good answers for those with this problem.

Re: email history

There can be a number of reasons why this isn't working properly.

If you haven't already looked at this KB Article with some possible solutions, please do so.

Glen,
For the incoming emails, have you created the Outlook rule to do this? Instructions are in this Knowledgebase article:

Incoming Rule:

Outgoing Rule:

If you see someting off, please let me know.  I'd really to get this working.

1. You shouldn't need the Outgoing rule ... that should be automatic

2. Does either rule run ... eg are the items marked "high importance", which is only an Outlook function?

3. Did you check the link Cherie posted?

I put the "High Importance"  rule in there just so I could tell if it was running.  I do get the High Importance indication on email sent/received from address in the APFW address book.  Neither incoming or outgoing mail though is sent to the contacts History.

I have run through that page before.  I'll try again to see what happens.

Make sure you go through the doc slowly and don't skip steps ...

Also, might try a simply one step rule to do when testing

One other ... as it's APFW: You'll want to try it without the firewall
