Thanks for your response. The article refers to this as a known issue for ACT 2006. I guess that they haven't fixed this for ACT 2008, and this is a bug. Below is the behavior:
1. Schedule activity
2. Under options, send activity e-mail to contacts is grayed out.
3. While in the calendar view with the activity selected, from menu Schedule --> Send Activity E-Mail. Nothing happens
I have verified that the settings are correct in the preference for scheduling.
