I have act 2010 premium on windows 7 professional with outlook 2007.
We have a couple contacts that have a primary contact. This user is one person and then under a secodnary contact we have another person. with an email address. They are from the same company so we wanted to keep the two people together to have a glance at the history. But when we go into seconddary contacts and click on the email and open outlook and compose and email the email sent does not get applied to the main contacts history. I also wanted to figure a way to have more than 2 emails associated with one contact.
Please someone with more knowledge of ACT tham I help me solve this issue.
Am I doing something wrong as using something for what it was not intended for or not using act the way it should be.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Unfortunately, when you send an e-mail using a secondary contact's email address, it will not record in ACT! history. This is because ACT! will only record history based only on e-mail fields in the contacts's record, and the secondary e-mail is not actually in a field in a table that can be searched on. You would need to create a new e-mail field and put the secondary contact's email address in there in order for the history to be recorded. Another option would be to promote the secondary contact to a primary contact, then relate them to the other contact under the Relationships tab.
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

If you updated your current database from an earlier version the relationships tab doesn't appear automatically ;-(
You can add it by going into the layout editor (Tools > Design layouts > Contact), then Edit >Tabs.
You should now see Relationships on the left. Use the arrow to move it to the right-hand window and save the layout, then close the layout editor window.
Hope that helps.
