Scheduling Sync Challenges Act Premium 2008 V10

Hi,

I am using two computers. One at home id my 'Parent-mother ship' if you will and my lap top I take with me on the road. My 'child' if you will.

After returing from the week on the road and syncing this is what happens...

After clearing a call activity on the 'child ' computer and scheduling a new call for one week out every thing seems okay with the record history & activities on the 'child-remote lap top'. Then I sync with the 'parent computer' and I end up with the old call from the 'parent' rolling over and the 'child's' call activity set for a week out and the history from the call being completed during the week ALL showing up. The end result = correct history, 2 future calls, 1 already completed but rolling over not picked up by the parent, and the right call for 1 week out from the 'child'.

Thanks in advance for any help!

This can happen if using the same user name on both systems and rolling over activities.

It doesn't know which of the activities to keep (the rolled over or the cleared)

Maybe remember to sync before you switch between using the 2 systems?

Re: Scheduling Sync Challenges Act Premium 2008 V10

I'm seeing similar behavior with remotes to a professionally hosted facility, remote A will  have activity items rollover from a previous day then sync up. Remote B then syncs but the appointments for remote A still display at the point on the calander they were originated. When I log into the server remote A's appointments display properly.

Can't get into the knowledge base atm so more to come.

Brad,

are Remote A and Remote B users the same ACT! user name?

Do you refresh after the sync from B to see the changes? They won't change unless you refresh or close re-open the DB.

How about if it's not a rollover but a manual edit or move of the activity?

I assume this is your hosted solution?

Thank you all for your insight!

Mike , this week I'm going to try and log in as a different user and see if that works!

Have a great day!

With ACT! 6, sync users had to turn off Auto roll-over because it didn't sync correctly

But I hadn't heard of this with 10 yet... maybe Brad can do some testing on his hosting servers

Yes I just became aware of the issue yesterday and it's the first time it's been noticed in 50 or so V10.0 hosted databases.

I'll do my homework (testing) and get back to you guys.

Manual edits seem to be fine, it's seems to be just items that rollover.

RemoteA and RemoteB are different users, I'm going to try and log into remoteB as UserA

Re: Scheduling Sync Challenges Act Premium 2008 V10

So, you notice it when logged in to B as B and look at activities for A?
If looking at B's activities, that's a different thing
What did you log into the server as?

Here would be my test plan:
Create 4 activities in A for A - 2 timeless and 2 scheduled
Sync A
Sync B
Make sure all 4 are on both remotes and server logged in as A and logged in as B looking at tasks for A
With manual, try just dragging 2 (one timeless one scheduled) activities for today over to tomorrow in the monthly calendar
Let the other 2 roll over

Then tomorrow sync A
Look at the 4 on server looged in as A
Look at the 4 on server logged in as B but looking at tasks for A
sync B
Look at the 4 on B looged in as A
Look at the 4 on B logged in as B but looking at tasks for A
Ctrl-F5 or close/open ACT!
Look at the 4 on B looged in as A
Look at the 4 on B logged in as B but looking at tasks for A

Hope this helps :-)

Re: Scheduling Sync Challenges Act Premium 2008 V10

EFSLLC Sorry to hijak your thread

Mike
So remoteA / User A rolls over and displays correctly
and on the server (logged in as userB) looking at userA's schedule the activity displays properly.
On remoteB userB looks at userA's schedule and the item has not rolled over
If I log into remoteB as userA the rollover dialog appears and all is well

I know that rollover/don't rollover is a local preference but I'm not sure how that would effect an actual schedule change

And yes I'm quite clear on the sequence (sync/refresh/relog/reboot) I'm using for testing.

Re: Scheduling Sync Challenges Act Premium 2008 V10

I assume this is just manual or did you change the clocks?

"On remoteB userB looks at userA's schedule and the item has not rolled over"
the fact that it's ok when you logout/in makes me think it's a refresh issue
Try Ctrl-F5 to refresh - did they roll over
Try logging out and back in as B - did they roll over
