Sage Act prem 2011 Contacts

Folks:   I have Sage ACT prem 2011, and currently have 22,000 contacts.   I am getting ready to add another 20,000.  I have added dozens of data fields over the years.   From other posts it looks as if I can add all the contacts I want to ACT, it is only limited by my laptop HDD and memory., is it looks as if this will be OK.

I am still skeptical, Is another 20k contacts going to gum up and slow my system?   Thanks Jim

No. Should make little or no difference.

The limit is 10GB for the ADF file with SQL 2008 Express ... for larger, you can upgrade to SQL Standard.

Unlikely if 50K contacts would get to that unless HUGE volumes of Notes/Hist

As to performance - depends on your RAM and HDD speed

My ADF, I don't believe it is anywhere close to that 10GB.  Looks like I should be fine.

Thanks

If performance does become an issue::
1. Use drives with RPM 10-15K or SSD
2. SQL Standard will use more than 1GB RAM and 1 processor (limitations in Express)

Re: Sage Act prem 2011 Contacts

I have all 20000 contact added, seems to be OK, does not seem to have slowed my system, that I can notice.   I do know that ACT's Duplicate features does not work that well.   If there is any difference in the contact names from what you already might have in ACT:  like a middle initial or a hyphenated last name or something like "Jim" vs "James" it will import the additonal contact.   Probably I need an add-on software to eliminate these duplicates.   Anyone have any suggestions?   Thanks Jim

I personally use itImport ...I find it's more powerful. The other choice is OakMerge, which is a bit easier to learn
