SQL Query for data extraction and field population

[ Edited ]

Hi Smiley Happy

Our database has 1 annual reminder task setup for each company in our Act! V16 database.
I need to get the date of each task into a new custom date field called 'Reminder Date' that I have created for company records.

Is there any way I can extract this data using a SQL query and then match it back and populate these fields without
having to do this manually for all 5,000 records.

Thanks

Gazza

Hi,

Are you able to open your database in SQL Management Studio?
If so, you could create a bulk statement for this if you have some knowledge in SQL Language.
First create the field via ACT. Then create your SQL statement linking the correct tables together.

Re: SQL Query for data extraction and field population

Hi Greg,

Yeah that was my line of thinking as well but I'm unsure of the connection details for the db. I tried the Act! admins credientials but they didnt work. I'm confident I'd be able to write the query to do this. Think I'll run it up on our development server and give it another go.

Hi,

To open the DB in SSMS, install SSMS where your SQL server is. Then open SSMS and try to connect with Windows credentials. This is how I do it.

Hope it helps.
