Remove/Disable Web Info Tab

Hi

Nobody in the office uses the web info tab for anything so it a feature slowing down Act for nothing.

Is there a way to disable it?

Would this help with Act performance as it is so slow since upgrading to 2012 from 2009 version, crashes for people everyday and generally so slow.

We are looking at various other ways to improve speed such as, removal of unused fields, clearing out old contacts we have no use for, ect.

We have also just got a new additional server to run just Act on as the old server currently has the job of running Act, Exchange mail server, file server and security server for a network of 13 computers.

Cheers

Re: Remove/Disable Web Info Tab

Hello John,
The Web Info tab only uses resources if you click on it. You can remove the tab from layout if you need to. Go to Tools > Design Layouts > Contact, click Edit > Tabs, then move the Web Info tab from the right side to the left.

Oh ok thanks.

Why is 2012 so slow compared to the older version then?

Nothing works better in the new version everybody in the office is on back back daily since we upgraded to 2012 as its slow and crashes all the time with no useful extra funtionality.

This is not typical of ACT! 2012.

Can you be more specific about what areas you are seeing performance issues in? For these areas, what is your expected performance versus the actual performance?

When you say it "crashes all the time", are there any specific error messages? Does it happen with all users? What action are they performing in ACT! when the crash occurs? How often do the crashes occur?

You may also want to make sure you have the latest updates for 2012 installed. You can check your version (including Hot Fix number) by going to Help > About ACT!.

Re: Remove/Disable Web Info Tab

Pretty much everything takes forever, the whole office are moaning its so much slower now since upgrading to 2012.

The crashing can be just about anything too, lookups regular cause a crash but even simple things like clicking on the note tab or history tab.

I assume its mainly dues to the amount of note or history for that record when that happens but it never used to do it before upgrading to 2012 all the issues we have only started when we upgraded to 2012.

As far as I know we have the latest version we did install the SP1 for it.
