Reinstall ACT Premium 2008

ACT was recently uninstalled from our Windows 2003 server.  When I try to reinstall it I get a message that says it found an old instance, but it cannot connect to it.  It turns out that the service for SQL ACT won't start.  The error in event viewer is event ID 9003 with a source os MSSQL$ACT7 and basically says that the file is corrupted and to restore it from backup.  I have a backup, but cannot figure out how to restore it.

Can anyone help?

thanks.

Hello strowner,
Welcome to the Sage ACT! Community. It sounds like you have leftover SQL install files. Are there any other applications on your server that are using SQl Server 2005?

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, we are using backup exec on the server which also uses SQL 2005.

Re: Reinstall ACT Premium 2008

You may need to manually remove the ACT! instance of SQL. Instructions are in this Knowledgebase article:

If you have difficulty with this process or the issue persists, I would recommend contacting an ACT! Certified Consultant (ACC) to assist you. You can find an ACC in your area here: http://na.sage.com/Sage-ACT/Partners/certified-consultants
