Reader Utility

Is the SQL Reader Utility included in ACT! v11? I can't find.

Do we still need to track Cliff down? What's the procedure?

Also, is sa utility available for APC customers?

Thanks in Advance.

Re: Reader Utility

Geoff,

The board you posted in wasn't meant for direct contact to Sage.  As far as I know, ACT! Reader is included in 11.1, but it could change.

In the future, if you're wanting to contact Sage through the Community, please post in the ACC area.

Re: Reader Utility

Actually, I was asking on behalf of a Premium Customer. I understood that Premium customers get the reader utility.

So please forget that I am an ACC and let me pose this hypothetically:

How would a Premium Edition user obtain the reader utility?

In my opinion, an ACC should not have to get involved. But maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Reader Utility

It really depends on the local office:

  • I believe that Premium users in the US with 30+ seats can get the Actreader utility free and you should contact your corporate rep for it.
  • There is no Actreader utility in Europe, but they make the SA pass free due to the legislation in the EU Union.
  • Neither is free in Australia. They charge for it, but provide no support for it.

Re: Reader Utility

I was told that it is included in the latest install pack but I cannot find it.

Re: Reader Utility

As you are refering to a beta product, you should post this to the beta or ACC areas.

Re: Reader Utility

The reader is not in beta. It has been available since ACT! v7.

What I have learned is that Sage is not shipping it with the product yet. For the time being, it must be obtained via the traditional method, Corporate Licensing.

Have a look at this ACT! Knowledge Base article - Unable to Locate the ACT! Reader Utility

thank you for the link.

the answer seems a bit vague.

i remember hearing something about this utility maybe a year ago, so i sent a few emails to sage, but no one responded.

based on the answer in the faq, the reader utility will be included in an update for the premium version, what about owners of the standard version?  will we be able to obtain the utility for free also?

can i go out on a limb and ask if this utility will allow crystal reports (preferably the 2008 version) to connect to an act database. i am still surprised that sage has not incorporated (purchased a license) a scaled down version of crystal with act, like the version of crystal that comes with visual studio.
