Read only acccess (not the Browse role) for external users

I have a group of users that I need to provide read only access to their own calendars via Act for Web.  I know that I can give them read only permissions using the 'Browse' security role, but this will not work; when I do this, no one else can create activities for them either.  The scenario is that we have internal staff that create activities/appointments for external users, and we want the external users to log in and view/print their calendar and activities, but not to be able to edit or delete them.

 

Does anyone know how to achieve this in Act, or if there is a third party add-on that would provide similar functionality?  Thanks.
