I imported a csv file of around 4,000 contacts. I now have additional information on each of these contacts and want to import and update them.
The unique records in ACT and updated csv will be >> Firstname, Lastname, Contact, E-mail, City, and State. The source data will have updated information for things like Title, Address. Phone and so on. I want to update the contacts with the new fields from the source csv file.
What is the best "duplicate checking" options (1st, 2nd, 3rd) that I should use - should I use 2 or 3 matches?

You can't update data in fields with ACT!'s import... it will only work if you either want to replace ALL the fields for a matching contact or just put data into empty fields.
To update data in ACT! records, you need an add-on such as itImport

So, if the fields I want to update are empty, then those fields will get updated - yes? I can also empty any delete data in any fields prior to the update - so they also get updated?
Is this right?

Yes, except for check-box fields.
