We have Act 12 running on an old server currently, and we've just migrated last night to a virtual server with Server 2008R2 running on it.
On our old setup we constantly had an issue around 5 times per day where an error with the PSI licence service meant that all of our users could no longer use the Act client until we manually went onto the server and restarted the service. We had set this as a scheduled task to restart the service every 2 hours, however if the licence was working at the time of the restart it simply kicked users out anyway.
Now that we've moved to virtual, we hoped we would no longer see this issue however this continues to happen. The only difference now is that we're not seeing a message on the server to tell us that the service has failed/stopped - users simply just get kicked out.
Is there a way of making this service more reliable, or anyway we can restart the service silently when it fails?

There must be something running in your environment that cause the service to fail. Can you share with us what other programs, services, uses this server has?

We are experiencing the same behaviour on 2 seperate servers. One is 'Windows 2003 R2 Service Pack 2' and the other is 'Windows 2008 R2'.
The other services running are mainly the standard windows services, the only ones of note being:
ACT!Scheduler
ProtexisLicensingV2
There are no other 'non-windows' services running.

Does anything show up in the event viewer? Services don't just stop for no reason. There must be something in the event viewer that will give us a clue.

The only event relating to the Protexis license was the following:
The Protexis Licensing V2 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
There were no error codes for this, or any other events around it that could help.

Hi Mark
I noticed this thread stopped
Are there any recommendation you would make
As a client of mine just moved servers
Comment they made
migrated to a new virtualisation platform (went from Microsoft Hyper-V to VMWare) over the last couple of days and ACT will not run. What I can see is the licensing service unable to execute properly.
Error in System Event Log is as follows: The Protexis Licensing V2 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 29 time(s).
There’s not much info I could find from google searches that gives me anything to go on.
Is the Protexis app bound to specific hardware or mac address?
Do we need to reinstall ACT! on the RDS (Server Farm) machines?
Kind regards
