Problem with ACT Add On

Hello All

I realize this may not be the right forum, but I'm really stuck.  We've purchased an add-on.  I've installed on multiple machines with no issues.  On one machine, the installation completes but the icon doesn't display and there is no added menu option as there is normally after an installation.  I've contacted the seller of the add-on twice and don't have a response.

Where can I start looking to see what the problem is?  Is there a way to manage add-ons manually within ACT or add-ons strictly managed through code?

Thanks.

Re: Problem with ACT Add On

First, try this:

1. Uninstall the addon on this computer

2. Delete the DependentDLL.xml file located in "%appdata%\ACT\ACT for Windows\"

3. Try to reinstall the addon and launch ACT

If still not work, I suggest you to continue to send emails to Gilles at Exponenciel.

Also try the link Pierre gave you above...

Re: Problem with ACT Add On

Hi,

one place to start is to look at whether the add-on has been Blacklisted.  If ACT! (during loading) encounters an error in a plugin that generates an exception, it Blacklists the add-on.  Blacklisting basically adds the DLL name in a XML file, so ACT! knows not to load it again.

the location on the XML file is different based on version of ACT!, so the easiest thing to do would be to install Xavier's excellent add-on manager tool that lets you enable and disable add-ons via a menu item (under tools)

The add-on manager simply forces a Blacklist or a removal from a Blacklist, so it is an easy way to un-Black-List your add-on if that is the problem.  if the tool shows the add-on as enabled and you still have issues, then your issue is most likely with the add-on and not with ACT! Blacklisting it.

Find Xavier's add-on here (it's free)

Gilles is usually pretty good... I'd drop him another email or try calling him
