Problem setting up email

Hi, I am really hoping that you can help me with this as I am pulling my hair out - whats left of it.

 

I am trying to set up email so that I can use it with Act! When I click on the email tab a message asks if I want to set up email. YES I do. AS I follow the instructions there are no Email options in the box for me to select. How do I populate the box?

 

Email is set up on the lap top, amd it works so why is ACT! refusing to read it? I guess it is something simple but what?

 

I have both Outlook and the new Windows Live mail instaled.

What version of ACT! and what version of Outlook?  It sounds like you have an incompatible version of Outlook for whatever version of ACT!.

Per the ACT! v16 system requirements (see http://www.act.com/products/system/v16/pro/), Outlook 2007 is compatible with ACT! v16.

 

ACT! must be installed AFTER MS Office/Outlook in order for ACT! to recognize Outlook.  A quick unistall and reinstall of ACT! should solve the problem if you installed ACT! before MS Office/Outlook.

Jared, will this fix be suitable for Windows 8?

 

Phillip, I am loathed to re install. I have a lot of info in Act! and I had a real problem installing it in the first place. It took a techie an hour to sort it out when he took over control of my machine.

Hi Jared

 

I tried that yesterday with no joy.

 

I did not have Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022 instaled, the closest to it was 

 

Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable -x86 9.0.30729.6161

 

There is also 

Microsoft Visual C++2005 Redistributable - x86 9.021022

 

and

Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable -x64 9.0.30729.6161

and

Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable -x86 10.0.40219
