My question has to do with getting Act! Premium 2008 EX set up to use MS SQL Standard instead of SQL Express.
From what I have read in the KB in order to do this you need to have an instance of Act7 with that using SQL Standard and then you can upgrade Act7 to Act! Premuim 2008 EX. Then you will be using SQL Standard instead of Express.
My problem is that we do not have Act7 to do this. Is there another way to set Premuim 2008 EX with an existing SQL Standard without using a previous version of Act?

The only way to do it while still abiding by the Act licensing rules is to purchase the ST version of Act Premium.

Even with ACT! 2008, the SQL instance is still called ACT7.
If you have you're own SQL 2005 CALs, you can have ACT! 2008 use it by following this this ACT! Knowledge Base article - http://tinyurl.com/4gueos
