Outlook Crashes when sending email

We are running Outlook 2007 and Act 2009 Premium on a windows XP machine. When we try to send emails outlook crashes. It leaves the outlook icon in the task bar, but its gray in color with a gray X over the icon. The only way to close it is to reboot. I tried to shut down the process in the task manager but that didn't work. Once this occurs outlook won't do anything until the computer is rebooted.

Re: Outlook Crashes when sending email

Remove the ACT! address book and attempt to send an email.  See if Outlook still crashes or not. If it doesn't, disable other Outlook addins and readd the ACT! address book.  It could be a conflict in the OUtlook addins.

You can disable Outlook addins by going to Tools > Trust Center > Addins

Two quick things to check:

1. Do you also have iTunes running?

2. How many messages are in the Inbox in Outlook currently?
