Outlook 2016 issues with Act Pro v19

Act 19 - upgrade 2 has still not fixed its issues when using Outlook as the email editor and doing mail merges.  The issue remains that when doing so the signature block appears as an attachment and rather than just showing the name and type of attachment (i.e. a PDF file with its name) it shows the path to where the file is located on the sender's devise.  Was told this has been fixed for Outlook 2010 and 2013 but not 2016.

The workaround is to use ACT as your email editor.  However it appears if you leave Outlook open when doing a merge is can cause ACT to lock up.  The only way to get ACT back to running correctly is to restart the devise. Has anyone else had this same issue?

Hi SJMontgomery,

The mail merge images issue has currently only been resolved for Outlook 2010. Please see this post for more info.

Regarding the issue of Act! email editor causing Act! to crash, this can be caused by having .NET 4.5 or later installed. Is this the case on your PC?

Not sure.  Was told by ACT support to disable DFEP..  Did so and had not problem with the merge.

I managed to get only one machine to work for mail merger between Outlook 2016 and ACT Premium v19 Cloud, all other failed. I guess the mail merger issue is not only limited to Pro but Premium as well.

Sorry - I am on Premium also.  Forgot the change in ACT naming nomenclature.  One other thing that ACT support did was download "something" that said it was updating Office.  After that the merge process worked.  Only tried on one machine.  When have the chance will checl back to find out what the "something" was.

Hi SJMontgomery,

It sounds like the fix that support ran for you was the one detailed in the following Knowledgebase article:

Will check.  Is surprising, or perhaps not, that it took several calls to find someone in tech support who would know and apply the "solution."

The use of ACT as an email editor is a work around that does not solve the underlying issue between 2016 MS Outlook and ACT.  If this provides the solution to the work around method do you still need to have DEP disabled?

Hi SJMontgomery,

If you no longer need to use the Act email editor, then re-enabling DEP shouldn't cause any problems.
There is one other Knowledgebase article that we have that suggest disabling it. In case you run into any issues after re-enabling it, here is the article for reference: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20124
